Purpose

In line with the Church’s mission to bring the message of salvation through Jesus Christ, and to serve one another, this Ministry works to:

  • FOSTER belief in the sanctity of every human life, from conception to natural death.

  • EDUCATE parishioners on Catholic Social Teachings, which address crucial moral issues affecting human life (Abortion, Contraception, Assisted Suicide, Religious Liberty, etc.).

  • DEVELOP witnesses who serve within their families, social groups, and the political community to build a culture of life.

PROGRAMS and EVENTS to implement the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops 2018-2019 theme :

“EVERY LIFE CHERISHED, CHOSEN, SENT” 

  • Special Novena will be held immediately following the daily 12:10  Mass, beginning Thursday, Sept. 27 through Friday, October 5th. Prayers of Healing and Reconciliation will be offered for those whose lives have been affected by abortion.

  • 40 Days for Life, Fall Campaign: Wednesday, Sept. 26 – Nov. 4, 2018

    • Daily prayer from 8:00 am – 5pm at Planned Parenthood Abortion Clinic, 518 E. Haley Street, Santa Barbara. Participants sign up at local parishes to spend one hour per week praying for an end to abortion and the repeal of Roe vs Wade.

  • Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary and Respect Life Sunday, October 7, 2018: Masses on that day will commemorate all the Unborn Babies who were victims of abortion.  You may participate by bringing donations for babies and moms to Mass for distribution to our local pregnancy help groups.  

  • Saturday, January 19, 2019: Archdiocese of Los Angeles invites all parishes to attend 1LifeLA, joining with thousands of pro-life advocates to express solidarity with the Church and religious leaders who stand for life. Takes place in downtown LA, featuring guest speakers and valuable information; food and refreshments available on site.

  • Educational Workshop on the proposed Human Life Amendment to the U.S. Constitution; watch the Bulletin for further information, announcements of time, place and speakers.

    • Care and Prepare: Finding Loving Care at the End of Life; includes information on Advanced Directives

  • 40 Days for Life Spring Campaign which coincides with the 40 Days of Lent, from Ash Wednesday on March 6 to Wednesday, April 10 .

  Requirements

•     Active membership at novenas, prayer groups and events listed above.
